Here We Go.....

SCAD ALUMNI???

Yup, I finally graduated from college. Even though it has already been a month, the thought is still weird. I keep thinking I'm on summer vacation!

So, to begin Phase I of becoming an "adult", I moved to beautiful, sunny Miami in search of a creative career in advertising. For the meantime, I am interning at Where Magazine. I've got to admit, I'm really beginning to like this job! I had always said that my dream job was to be a magazine editor (even though I majored in advertising... more on that later). And now here I am, writing blurbs about Miami Hot Spots and going to museum openings and fashion shows and then writing about it from 9-5! The past two weeks have been pretty good and I have faith that it will only get better.

Ok, so you may be wondering how or why I would take a job in the writing business when I should be creating ads. Well it is very simple- I am and always have been, first and foremost, a writer at heart. For me its as natural as breathing. In college I took as many writing classes as I could. And thus I found my niche - advertising copywriting. Now I am lucky enough to be putting it to good use. It's funny how things work, but I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and this philosophy has never let me down.

As far as the transition from living on my own to now living with an aunt... it has not been bad. I have a few friends that I have kept in touch with from when I used to live here as well as some cousins, so at least I have a social life. I still miss some friends from Savannah and sometimes it is not as easy as I pretend, but I think that I can really make a life for myself in Miami.
